Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Empowered Research and Design LLC ("we", "us", "our"), operating the People's Peps store at peoplespeps.com, collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you visit the site, place an order, or communicate with us.
Information we collect
Information you give us. Name, date of birth or age verification result, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, payment details, organization name and type, role, research category and purpose, account login, order history, and anything you write to us in messages, reviews, or wholesale applications.
Information collected automatically. Device and browser type, IP address, pages viewed, referring site, the age gate acknowledgement stored for your session, and how you interact with the site, collected through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.
Information from others. Age verification and fraud screening services return a result. Payment processors confirm payment. Shipping carriers provide delivery status. Public sources such as a business registration or institutional directory may be used to confirm an organization you name. Marketing and analytics providers may supplement what we hold.
How we use it
- To process and ship your orders, send order, shipping, safety and lot withdrawal notices, and provide support.
- To confirm you are 21 or older and buying for research, to enforce our Research Use Policy, and to keep the compliance record described in our Terms.
- To send marketing email and, if you separately opt in, marketing text messages, about products, new lot releases, and offers.
- To run and improve the site, understand how it is used, and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and protect our rights and yours.
Text messages
Marketing texts. If you check the separate SMS marketing box and give us your mobile number, we send recurring automated marketing text messages to that number about products, new lot releases, and offers. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP to any message, by emailing info@peoplespeps.com, or by any other reasonable means, and we process the request promptly. Reply HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Order texts. If you separately choose to receive order and shipping updates by text, those messages are operational and are sent only for orders you place. Withdrawing from marketing texts does not stop order texts, and withdrawing from either does not stop lot withdrawal or safety notices, which we send by email.
We keep a record of your consent, the date and time, and the language you agreed to. We do not sell or share your mobile number or SMS consent with third parties for their own marketing.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to run the store, remember your cart, preferences, and age gate acknowledgement, measure traffic, and show relevant marketing. Cookies needed to run the site and remember the age gate are necessary for access. You can control other cookies through our Privacy Choices link and your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the site works. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
How we share it
We share personal information with service providers who help us run the business: Shopify, which hosts our store and processes orders; Shopify Flow, which runs order-triggered automations; our payment processor and fraud screening service; our age verification service; UPS, for delivery; Omnisend, for email and text messaging; analytics and advertising providers; and our accountants, lawyers, and other professional advisers. Most of these providers are contractually limited to using your information to provide their service to us. Shopify and some advertising and analytics providers may also use certain information independently, as described in their own privacy policies. We share information when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property. If our business is sold or merged, personal information may transfer as part of that transaction.
Sale, sharing, and targeted advertising
We do not sell personal information for money. Some analytics and advertising tools may receive device identifiers, browsing activity, or similar information to measure advertising or show advertising based on activity across websites. Certain state laws define this activity as a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising even when no money is exchanged. You may opt out at any time through the Privacy Choices link in our footer or by using a recognized browser-based opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control, which we honor.
Shopify
Our store is hosted on Shopify Inc. Shopify processes personal information on our behalf and may also use certain information independently as described in its own privacy policy, available at shopify.com/legal/privacy.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, including Texas and California, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, opt out of its sale, sharing, or use for targeted advertising or profiling, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To exercise any right, email info@peoplespeps.com with the subject line "Privacy request", or use the Privacy Choices link for opt-outs. Authorized agents may submit requests where the law permits, subject to reasonable verification. We verify requests before acting on them and respond within the time the law requires, explaining the reason if we decline.
To appeal a decision on a privacy request, email info@peoplespeps.com with the subject line "Privacy appeal" and identify the request being appealed. We respond within the time required by applicable law and, if we deny the appeal, tell you how to contact your state attorney general.
You can unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any message, and from marketing texts by replying STOP or emailing us.
Retention
- Order, lot traceability, and compliance records (including age and research attestations and verification results): at least five years after the order, or longer where tax, processor, or legal requirements call for it.
- Identification documents supplied for manual verification: deleted once verification is complete unless a law requires us to keep them; access is restricted while held.
- Fraud and dispute records: as long as needed to resolve the matter and protect against repeat fraud.
- Support communications: as long as your account is open and for a reasonable period after.
- Marketing subscription and consent records: as long as reasonably necessary to document consent and comply with law. After an unsubscribe request we keep the minimum needed to maintain a suppression record and prevent future marketing.
- Analytics data: in aggregated or de-identified form where possible.
We delete or anonymize information when we no longer need it for these purposes.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections and access controls. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor and never stored on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This site is for adults 21 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Third-party links
Our site may link to laboratories, carriers, and other third-party sites. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy does not cover them.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date and version at the top tell you when it last changed. Material changes will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, emailed to you.
